Ideas for meetings

Ideas from the SW London Area

Two or three weeks prior to meeting, a Bible passage is given to be read and three or four questions, relating to that passage, to be answered. At the meeting, the Bible study is started with the sharing of the answers to the questions.

Supplied by Beech Hill Fellowship (they found that ladies participated who would not normally want to).

An outline of a house is drawn on a large sheet of card with appropriate Bible references written on and around the drawing. Each reference is looked up in turn, superimposing a coloured picture of each item onto the diagram, so gradually building a picture of a house. Included were items mentioned in the Bible, e.g. foundation, wall, roof, chimney, door, window, flowers, trees, hedge, path, clouds, starts, etc.

Supplied by Brighton Fellowship.

A rounders match and BBQ held on sunny Saturday afternoons does wonders for the church family - even if only watching!

Supplied by Clapham Fellowship.

Over coffee after the formal part of the meeting, why not have a discussion on the message just heard? There may be questions, comments and feedback, etc, that may be helpful. It may even help people remember much more of what is heard, and everyone, including the speaker, will benefit from one another's thoughts.

Supplied by Kew Fellowship.

Various programmes arranged: testimonies; topical news discussed from a scriptural perspective; everyone reads a set book (e.g. Bold I approach on prayer and A grace disguised on dealing with loss) and then comes together to discuss it.

Inviting Toddlers' mums out for a meal with other church members.
