GBWA Projects

GBWA undertakes raising money for Christian charities.

Our last two projects, raising funds for both CCM and the Lifewords (formerly Scripture Gift Mission) Pavement Project, were launched at the weekend conference in November 2003, but are now closed. The two new projects, to be formally launched at the day conference on 18 November 2006, are Lovewise and Wheels for the World.

Lovewise

Lovewise is a charity which presents a Christian perspective on marriage, sex and relationships for children aged between 5 and 7 and young people between 13 and 18. It has teams in Portsmouth, Newcastle, London, Loughborough and Sheffield, and hopes soon to have three more in Kendal, Shrewsbury and Hull.

In response to the mail out that GBWA supported, Lovewise has sold 75 copies of the Primary School presentation material on growing up, marriage and family life. Lovewise says: 'Parents are beginning to wake up to the damaging nature of the material being shown their children in the name of education. Please pray that more parents will be alert. The nened for wholesome teaching for our young people is so great.'

To date £350 has been sent to Lovewise. For further information, please contact Vicki Gardener or visit their website.

Wheels for the World

Wheels for the World, part of Joni Eareckson-Tada's Through the Roof charity, restores, equips and distributes wheelchairs for disabled people in Africa and eastern Europe, who would otherwise be unable to move around.

GBWA has sent £1,000 to WFTW, which it is hoped will be put towards starting a workshop in Africa making small wheels to replace the ones on wheelchairs which wear out very quickly due to the rough ground.
