The Lord's Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer is a pattern prayer for us to use.
Our Father ...

"We are not to look to this world for lasting peace. This world can never satisfy us. We look to God our Father, where we find spiritual peace and eternal blessing"

We have a wonderful privilege as God's children to call God, our Father.  When we pray we are seeking an audience with the Holy God of Heaven - who is also our Father in Heaven.

As we come to Him we need to pause, search our hearts and repent of our sin, knowing God hears us in Heaven - His dwelling place.

God is always ready to hear us, unlike an earthly father who may be too busy, engaged on the phone, half listening or even forgetful.

Our Heavenly Father always hears and answers in the way that is best for us.

He is able to meet our greatest hope and our every need. What a confidence and peace this should be to us as we pray.

We have the privilege of addressing Him, as our Father.

Our Father in Heaven ...

mountains

God our perfect Father dwells in Heaven, in Glory. Earth is but a tiny speck to Him as He views it. We need to see our smallness in comparison to His greatness. We can climb mountains and see for miles around but we are limited. God sees and knows all things.

Why should our Heavenly Father have anything to do with sinful people like us? Yet He showed His great love, grace and mercy to undeserved people by sending His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ into this world to save us and to pay the price for our sins. He redeemed us.

What a heart of love our Heavenly Father has for His children.

Our Father has also prepared a place in heaven for all believers. His children have a wonderful inheritance which they cannot disinherit. Where God is, there also is the Lord Jesus. In heaven there will be no more sin, no more sorrow and no death. What a great contrast between Heaven and this earth.

The immensity of God should humble us. God is not earthly but spiritual.

We need to approach Him by faith and ...

... worship, love and adore Him in response to His loving kindness.

rainbowWhen we pray we believe our prayers will be winged up to God's glorious throne by the power of the Holy Spirit. How amazing and wonderful that our prayers are heard by the wonderful three-in-one God - our Father who dwells in the glory of Heaven and his Son, Jesus, who intercedes for God's children.
